Redesign of Book Website

Objective: Enhance the visual cohesion and user experience of the "Keeping the Faith" website by aligning the branding, improving the endorsement section, and updating the contributors section.

Introduction

For this project, I was tasked with redesigning the "Keeping the Faith" website to create a more visually appealing and cohesive experience. The objective was to align the website’s branding with the existing logo, enhance the readability of the endorsement section, and bring uniformity to the contributors section.

Process

1. Initial Consultation and Brand Analysis
   • Client Meeting: Discussed the project's goals, branding guidelines, and specific areas for improvement.
   • Brand Audit: Conducted a thorough review of the current site to identify inconsistencies and areas needing enhancement.
2. Color Palette and Typography Update
   • Color Scheme: Developed a cohesive color palette that complemented the existing logo, incorporating values of resistance, unity, hope, reflection, compelling storytelling, justice, passion, and transformation.
   • Typography Selection: Chose a combination of Montserrat for headers, Merriweather for body text, and Roboto for labels and buttons, ensuring readability and visual consistency across the site.
3. Wireframing and Mockups
   • Wireframes: Created wireframes to outline the new layout of the endorsement and contributors sections.
   • Mockups: Developed high-fidelity mockups showcasing the updated design, including typography, color scheme, and layout improvements.
4. Implementation
   • Coding: Updated the CSS and HTML to implement the new design, ensuring cross-browser compatibility and responsiveness.
   • Testing: Conducted thorough testing on various devices and screen sizes to ensure consistency and usability.
5. Client Review and Feedback
   • Prototype Review: Shared a preview link of the redesigned page with the clients for feedback.
   • Final Adjustments: Made any necessary adjustments based on client feedback to ensure satisfaction.
6. Publishing and Delivery
   • Publishing: Published the final design to the live homepage upon receiving client approval.
   • Invoice: Sent the invoice for the remaining balance and provided payment instructions.

Results

• Visual Cohesion: Achieved a unified and consistent visual identity across the website.
• Improved Readability: Enhanced the typography and layout of the endorsement section, making it more inviting and easier to read.
• Contributor Uniformity: Standardized contributor photos, adding a brand filter to maintain visual cohesion.

Reflection

Challenges: One of the primary challenges was ensuring that the new design remained true to the original branding while also enhancing the visual appeal and usability. Balancing the introduction of new elements with the existing aesthetic required careful consideration and iteration.

Learnings: This project reinforced the importance of a thorough brand audit and the value of client feedback in the design process. It also highlighted my ability to manage multiple aspects of a redesign, from concept to implementation, ensuring a cohesive and effective end product.
